La Posta Vecchia in Palo Laziale is a Seventeenth Century Villa transformed into a deluxe hotel, and member of Relais & Chateaux Association. The villa, a 40 minute drive from Rome, overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and is surrounded by a World Wildlife Foundation Park of 125 hectares. At 13 kms, heading North you will meet with Santa Severa, once the Etruscan port of Pyrgi, where you can still see the archaelogical excavations close to the Odescalchi Castle. Nearby there is the Antiquarium, a museum showing a number of Roman findings. The cruise port of Civitavecchia, at 20 Kms from Santa Severa, which was built by the Roman Emperor Traiano and the remains of the thermal baths of Traiano and Adriano can be visited. Rome's Fiumicino Airport is located just 20 minutes away.
