The essence of Vatulele is romantic, a stark contrast to the pragmatic commercial language of most resorts. In keeping with the owners' philosophy of creating a total escape, there are no money transactions on the island, and no telephones, newspapers, radios or television. The villas or bures are spacious and identical, enjoying easy access to the water, each with its stretch of white sand. Twelve doors open onto an expansive terrace, and form the living room. Walk up three steps to the bedroom with a king-size bed and dressing area. Each has its own sand pathway to a private beach space. At full moon the dinning room is usually set by the waters edge. Dining is usually communal, and hosted by the management - in the style of the Captain's table on a ship. However there are many options for private dinners.
