Historic Belvidere Manor, situated on the scenic shores of Knysna's lagoon, nestles amid ancient oaks on land acquired by Thomas Duthie from George Rex, the Squire of Knysna, in 1834. The restored Belvidere House is now the centre of gracious hospitality and charm, and celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. Guests staying at Belvidere Manor are accommodated in rural Cape style cottages, each one beautifully appointed with views across lush gardens towards the lagoon. The cottages have comfortable living rooms with en suite bedrooms. Start the day with breakfast on the veranda of Belvidere House, as the sun rises over Belvidere Bay. Light lunches are served poolside, at the cottages, or in the Bell Tavern, and guests have the opportunity to try Knysna's famous oysters, farmed just below the hotel. There is a wide variety of adventurous recreational opportunities, from Canoeing to Abseilng or you can enjoy one of the beautiful golf courses. The Belvidere Manor provides an Executive Conference facility ideal for think tanks and brain storming within a peaceful and calm atmosphere. But as the day draws to a close, guests return to the peace that Belvidere offers, to relish a gourmet meal in the dining rooms of Belvidere House, where restored yellow wood and Cape antiques glow in the flickering candlelight.
